Obituary of Jack Nicholson
Jack Nicholson (Ridley Graduate BC and Ridley College BC), a legendary coach, leader, oarsman and friend of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, who passed away on December 1, 2014.
Jack passed away after a brief illness at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Monday, December 1, 2014 in his 83rd year. He will be dearly missed by his partner, Nancy Storrs; daughters Carey (Andy Williamson) and Tracy and their mother, Sheila; grandchildren Brenna and Michael Williamson; brother George (Shirley); and also by many relatives and the large rowing fraternity. Jack was predeceased by his parents Henry and Jean (nee Watt) Nicholson. Raised in St. Catharines, Jack attended St. Catharines Collegiate, where he began his lifelong involvement with rowing. He worked as a draftsman at Foster Wheeler and then at General Motors, retiring in 1988, so that he could continue full-time in his coaching career. He coached at numerous high schools, universities, clubs and many times with the Canadian National Team, winning medals at all levels. His passion and commitment was with Ridley Graduate Boat Club and Ridley College, where he was involved since 1972.
