YOUTH ROWING CAMP

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Youth Rowing Camp program is a great way for youth ages 10-15 to learn about rowing. No experience is required. Campers learn everything about rowing, from boat handling to stroke technique. For those who have already tried and enjoyed rowing, camp is a way to improve their skills!

The week-long camps are broken down into an orientation session and swim test, on-water rowing sessions (2 each day, weather permitting), off-water instructional sessions and camp-style games and activities.

Youth will be supervised by experienced coaches who are qualified in first aid and CPR. When on the water, coaches drive alongside the rowing shells in a fully equipped motorized coach boat that includes life jackets, a whistle and cell phone, and other safety equipment. Coach: youth ratio of 1:5.
NEW PROGRAM ADDED: LEARN TO ROW MIDDLE SCHOOL + HIGH SCHOOL ENTRY.

CAMP SCHEDULE

Tuesday through Thursday:
Youth have on-water sessions in the morning and afternoon, weather permitting. In the event of bad weather, coaches will lead on-land rowing sessions (e.g., technique on rowing machine, strength and fitness) mixed with fun camp activities (tie dye, capture the flag)

Friday:
Regatta Day! After a morning on-water session, the events begin! Events are both on the water (1000m race) and off (relay races on rowing machines, rigging accuracy, best team cheer). The Regatta wraps up at 3:00pm with the Awards Ceremony and cookout. Parents are welcome to join!

PROGRAM POLICIES
Cancellation / Rescheduling Information:
Cancel or reschedule up to two weeks before the start of the program with no penalty. After this, no refunds will be issued. However, paid program fees may be applied to another SCRC program in the 2022 season (subject to availability).

COVID-Related Information:
During these uncertain times of COVID-19 we want to reduce the risk to anyone considering reserving their spots for Youth Rowing Camp. If any sessions are lost, disrupted or simply not able to occur we will guarantee 100% refunds as peace of mind.

Youth Rowing Camp "Coach In Training" (CIT):
This program is designed to support high-school age athletes who are ready to make the first steps toward coaching leadership in the sport. Each week can accommodate two CITs. These are volunteer positions (can complete for HS community service hours). The program will financially sport CIT’s completion of boating license and introduction to coaching course (NCCP/RCA).
