Appointment of a New Head Coach for the St. Catharines Rowing Club
The St. Catharines Rowing Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Szybka as its Head Coach.
Mr. Szybka is a Chartered Professional Coach, with certifications as a Can Fit Pro Personal Trainer, RCA Performance Coach and an Advanced Coaching Diploma from the Canadian Sport Institute. He was an RCA Next Generation Coach with Row Ontario and Brock University, and formerly Head of Rowing at St. George’s School, Vancouver, B.C.
SCRC’s VP, Rowing, Janet Lancaster, said, “I am thrilled to welcome Greg Szybka as our new Head Coach. Greg brings with him a wealth of knowledge in a number of areas that will benefit our athletes, coaches and the club as a whole. His extensive training and experience working with developing athletes, most recently at the national team level, is an asset that will help to elevate performance in all of our programs. Greg is familiar with the club, having grown through the programs as an athlete himself. On behalf of all of the SCRC coaches, I am excited to welcome you back Greg!”
Said Mr. Szybka, “I am excited to return to the St. Catharines Rowing Club, where I was first introduced to the sport. I look forward to collaborating closely with the board, coaches and athletes to provide support and contribute to the continued growth and success of the club.”
Greg, of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., will be a member of the club’s Rowing Committee. He begins his new role as Head Coach February 3, 2025.
