Join the Adult Learn to Scull Program at SCRC!
Program Description: SCRC is excited to offer a no-frills, adult learn to scull program. This two-tiered program includes on-the-water coaching three evenings per week (weather and water conditions permitting). Participants will have the opportunity to learn sculling with direct support from a dedicated coach.
Grouping & Eligibility:
Level 1:
Program Capacity:
Limited to 12 spaces due to equipment capacity and available coaching staff. A waitlist is available.
Grouping & Eligibility:
- Designed for individuals aged 21 and older who engage in an active lifestyle.
- Open to rowers with at least one year of on-water experience and basic rowing knowledge.
Level 1:
- Introduction to equipment, boat basics, and handling skills.
- Basic sculling techniques and drills, primarily in crew boats, with progression into singles.
- Enhancement of sculling skill development focusing on balance, navigation, and power application.
- Individualized instruction primarily in singles, with crew boats still being rowed.
- Stepping stone to involvement in the SCRC master’s program.

Expectations:
- Complete full SCRC registration requirements, including photo consent and swimming attestation form by May 24, 2025.
- Wear appropriate rowing attire (tight-fitting leggings/shorts, shirt/sweater/jacket without pockets or is able to be fully zipped, mandatory socks, easy slip-off shoes).
- Come prepared with a water bottle (sock covered), sunglasses/sunscreen, ball cap and waterproof jacket when appropriate.

$240.00 per session + a one-time RCA fee of $65 (April 1, 2025 - May 31, 2026). Full payment must be made to SCRC by May 24, 2025.
Adaptation Stipulation:
For medical adaptations, please advise the coach of health issues, injury details, or extenuating circumstances by May 24, 2025.
The program is ever evolving and may require changes with little or no notice. Coaches may adjust the program based on various factors, including special athlete circumstances, weather, unforeseen events, and more.

- Have a healthy respect for equipment, will prioritize boat care, handling, and maintenance.
